Tom Brown's Schooldays by Thomas Hughes

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Upon this reread I was reminded that I was not the biggest fan. Certainly it has its place in literature for a reason--establishment of the (boarding) school story and representative of the prosthesis of Victorian literature; however, for modern audiences, the didacticism is rather difficult to swallow--unless of course you read it with the intention of comparing it to the beloved HP. Then, it turns out, TB is a rather fun read.

Otherwise, I would probably skip this for a summary and some critical works somewhere.
