A Poem in Honor of Poetry Month and Spring

Pollen, oh, pollen, how do I hate thee-
the scratchy redness you put in my eyes-
the excessive sneezing you cause to me
as snowy flower guts swirl in the skies
making me feel as though I have been
crying all day when I am emotionally sound-
causing a distinct sleepiness that when
I lay down, no relief can be had nor found.
But alas-there is an “allergy relief”
Called Claratin-D and even without
A prescription, is found on the shelf,
Letting some dryness relieve my snout.
Gah, spring-pretty and hopeful you may be,
But your pollen and misery-how I hate thee.
