I would give it 3 1/2 stars. I like the characters, but it's alignment with other high fantasy and ridiculous similarity to the world of Harry Potter made it distracting to follow the plot without rolling my eyes. Predictable, but likeable, nothing unique, but still worth a read, I hope the series forges its own identity with the rest of the books.
