Reviews: I Spy in the SKy, Matilda's Cat and At the Same Moment, Around the World

I Spy in the SkyI Spy in the Sky by Edward Gibbs
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is in the same style/"series" as I Spy on the Farm. And like I Spy on the Farm, this book is rendered completely in digital media. While you can tell it is digital, it still looks phenomenal. The spread with the peacock is particularly striking. It really is a fun read--especially for engaging a younger audience.

Matilda's CatMatilda's Cat by Emily Gravett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As always, fun illustrations in watercolor, lots of white space, a good narrative and a bit of humor. Emily Gravett is a master storyteller.

At the Same Moment, Around the WorldAt the Same Moment, Around the World by Clotilde Perrin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The illustrations in this book are beautiful. I can see the difficulty in cataloging this title--should it be non-fiction? Should it be a picture book? It doesn't really have a consistent narrative, but rather demonstrates the differences in time zones. The problem is, it will get lost in Non-fiction, whereas in picturebooks it will be picked up because the soft illustrations, the pencil work and beautiful colors make it appealing.

For a non-fiction picturebook, this one stands out.
