The Fox and the Crow by Manasi Subramaniam
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This picturebook version of The Fox and the Crow boils the narrative down to around 100 words of free form verse to accompany resplendent illustrations which seem to be rendered with acrylics on canvas. Every spread bleeds off its page, giving each illustration the illusion of being larger than life, of being greater than the artist could ever how to contain on a page. This book is dark in color and tone, and will leave you no option but to read it again.
