Review: The Red Hat

The Red Hat The Red Hat by David Teague
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Billy Hightower lives high in the sky. When he sees a girl across the way, he wants to tell her he likes her red hat, but the wind takes him away.

This is a fastidiously designed picturebook with a bold color palette. Antoinette Portis creates another perfectly illustrated picturebook that utilizes blues, white, black and red for effective contrast and bold emphasis. Every spread is effectively designed, varying in style and perspective to create a cohesive story tied together with a shimmering wind.

David Teague's prose is crisp, perfectly worded and effectively melded with the illustrations.

Wow.
