Review: The Program

The Program The Program by Suzanne Young
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Teenage suicide is an epidemic. One in three teens are killing themselves--there is no discernible cause and no true cure...Until the government-created Program is developed. Sloane watches as her brother then her boyfriend are infected and struggles to keep the facade of normalcy...

This novel is pseudo-dystopian, thoughtful, poignant and apt. The romance is neither forced nor overly sappy, but instead truly captures the essence and connection of teenage love. And the brilliance of this novel is that the enemy is within and the Program is the cure, but also that the Program is the enemy AS WELL AS the cure.

Truly an excellent exploration of emotions, depression, suicide, love, strength and perseverance.
