Review: Friends

A new student arrives at school who is a little different.


With what appears to be watercolor and mixed media on canvas, the soft illustrations of "Friends" bring the reader through the need and loneliness of being new and different. The background washes illustrate these feelings with gray backgrounds for loneliness and green for hope. The economical text allows the illustrations to expand and intimate its own narrative.

Beautiful, sweet and well-done.
