I wanted to love this book. It is hugely important and we need more like it, yet if the topic was not about a brave transgender girl, this book would not have been a good book. I really needed it to have more of an emotional commitment to Melissa's actions and feelings. It felt rather sterile. I wanted to cry and feel. This book will raise awareness, yes, but it will not follow through with the emotional connection.
