Review: Raybot

Raybot Raybot by Adam F. Watkins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Raybot sets out to find a puppy for a best friend and encounters all kinds of friendly animals on his journey.

This fun picturebook is illustrated in pen, ink and oil paint and the technique really brings life to the various animals Raybot meets on his adventures. Good design has the text large and well-placed, and good writing keeps the text to a minimum. This short friendship tale is not anything that stands out as unique in the world of children's picturebooks, but it is a solid read with nuanced illustrations and designed as a perfect read aloud for the pre-K crowd.
