Review: The Hate U Give

The Hate U Give The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This will be the most powerful, important and best read of 2017. Can I give this 6 stars?

Starr is nuanced, strong, brave and highly intelligent narrator who lives in two different worlds. Trying to navigate her own feelings towards those worlds and herself makes the events that unfold in this novel feel raw, poignant and real. There is humor and hope, heart-wrenching loss and sadness, but what lingers is the sense of empowerment and the need to do what is right.

This is an absolute must read for ever person in this country (US). For. Every. Person. The truths in this book need to be heard and this book should win both the Printz and the Coretta Scott King prizes.

Truly stunning, brilliant and worthy of any praise and hype you have heard.
