Review: Town Is by the Sea

Town Is by the Sea Town Is by the Sea by Joanne Schwartz
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ink, watercolor and gouache paintings depict the beauty of the sea, the darkness of the mine and the beauty of life's small details. Historical in its setting, there is still tension throughout the story--a fear that today he boy's father won't come home. Simultaneously there is simplicity and wonder at small town sea life and the need to follow a confining and dangerous legacy. Brilliant.
