Review: Maybe a Fox

Maybe a Fox Maybe a Fox by Kathi Appelt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Heartbreaking and hopeful, sad and sweet, Maybe a Fox follows Jules and her journey through loss and acceptance.

Poetic and beautifully written, this novel first gave me pause because it was ANOTHER story about a fox. After just having read Pax, I was reluctant to read another "fox" story. I am glad that I did, since Appelt's tale reached me more than Pennypacker's war-torn world.

I contemplated giving this book 5 full stars, as it is just so well written, yet I hesitate because I feel like there is a piece missing somewhere. Even still, you should read this short lyrical novel for the sake of the use of language.
